Effect of cortisone on oncogenesis by murine sarcoma virus (Moloney).

چکیده
The role of cortisone in viral carcinogenesis was investigated by inoculating murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) into normal BALB/c and C57BL/6 weanling mice and into mice of the same strains pretreated with 2.5 mg of cortisone acetate. The two strains were equally susceptible to tumor induction. Pre treatment with cortisone increased their susceptibility to oncogenesis. Fifty-four out of eighty normal mice developed tu mors in contrast to 78/79 cortisone-treated mice. All tumors induced in normal mice ultimately regressed. However, only 26/78 tumors induced in cortisone-treated mice regressed. All mice were bled 21 days after virus inoculation and their sera were tested against Moloney lymphoma cells by the indirect fluorescent antibody test. Cortisone did not significantly alter the production of the antibody. Tumors induced in normal and cortisone-treated BALB/c mice were assayed for viral activity by tumor induction in vivo and focus formation in vitro. The results obtained from both assay systems indicated that more virus was present in tumors induced in cortisone-treated animals.

Pathogen-associated regulatory non-coding RNAs and oncogenesis.
Among all new cancer cases in 2012, on average, 15.4% were caused by Helicobacter pylori or oncoviruses, including Epstein-Barr virus, human papillomavirus, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C viruses, Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus and human T-lymphotropic virus. These pathogens encode a variety of non-coding RNAs, which are important cofactors for oncogenesis. In this review, we focus on re...
متن کاملAntibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity in the Moloney sarcoma virus system: differential activity of IgG and IgM with different subpopulations of lymphocytes
Antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity in the Moloney sarcoma virus (MSV) system was evaluated in terms of the differential ability of IgG and IgM from MSV regressor animals to induce cytotoxicity by lymphocytes from lymph node, spleen, and thymus. The cell-mediated cytotoxicity induced by both IgM and IgG was specific for target possessing the appropriate virally determined cell surface...
متن کاملEffects of poly(2'-O-methyladenylic acid) on susceptibility and autogenous immunity to RNA tumor virus oncogenesis in vivo.
Poly(2'-O-methyladenylic acid) [poly(Am)] inhibited tumor development and death induced by the Moloney sarcoma virus-leukemia virus complex in newborn mice. The compound was effective at 10 mug per mouse when given at least 1 hr before inoculation of virus, but the greatest inhibition was seen in mice treated at least 4 hr before infection. Poly(2'-O-methyluridylic acid) and poly(vinyladenine) ...
متن کاملInhibition of oncornavirus functions by poly (2-methylthioinosinic acid).
Poly (2-methylthioinosinic acid) [poly(ms2I)] was found to markedly inhibit the RNA directed DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) activity of murine (Moloney, Rauscher) leukemia virus and murine (Moloney) sarcoma virus, while under the same conditions the unsubstituted parent compound poly(I) showed little, if any, inhibitory effect. Copolymers of inosinic acid (I) and 2-methylthioinosinic ac...
متن کاملSeparation of sarcoma virus-specific and leukemia virus-specific genetic sequences of Moloney sarcoma virus.
We have studied the nucleic acid sequences in nonproducer cells transformed by Moloney sarcoma virus or Abelson leukemia virus (two types of replication-defective, RNA-containing, viruses isolated by passage of Moloney leukemia virus in BALB/c mice). DNA probes from the Moloney leukemia in virus detect RNA in both Abelson virus-transformed nonproducer cells and Moloney sarcoma virus-transformed...
